100Kb Photo

A 230mm across the flats octagonal horizontal slate dial in a private collection.
There is a large 32 point compass rose at the base of the gnomon. It is engraved "Constructed for The Revd John Pratt"   "Enniskean"   "Lat 51° 44'   Lon 8° 56'"   "by D. O'Connell Augt 1843"   The gnomon is missing. The chapter ring is marked from 5a.m. to 7p.m. in Roman numerals with no noon gap to compensate for gnomon thickness. There are fractional time rings outside the chapter ring showing hours, 30 mins, 15 mins and 5 mins. There is an Equation of Time table around the outside edge of the dial

Enniskean is 12K north of Clonakilty and 15K west of Bandon

Lat 51° 44' North   Long 8° 56' West
