This scratch dial is located on one of the capitals on the reconstructed cloister arcade at Old Mellifont Abbey, Co. Louth. Founded in 1142A.D., but now a ruin, it was the first Cistercian monastery in Ireland.

The Abbey ruins are located 10km north-west of Drogheda off the R168 (Drogheda-Collon Road).
